That forgiveness is healing needs to be understood if the teacher of God is to make progress. ACIM OE MNL 22.3
When a teacher of God fails to heal, it is because he has forgotten Who he is. ACIM OE MNL 22.5
Once the ACIM Practitioner has accepted the key role of forgiveness in practice and has practiced it in daily life consistently, these readings from the Manual for Teachers invite us to open to a more universal understanding of the power of forgiveness and identity. Here the Teacher of God is invited to step into the universal expression of forgiveness which is instant and always. Having surrendered the conditioned habit of judgment forgiveness becomes an established way of being in the world. Forgiveness emerges as a state of mind itself – an organic and authentic expression of the love of source which is guaranteed – it’s the primordial stuff of which we are made – all of us. Love, guaranteed. In that state there is no “doing“ of forgiveness. At rest in a place where our willingness is established, the basic foundation of lived experience in the world is without judgement. When and if judgement arises it’s like a flicker of a flame – and the process of snuffing it is organic and natural – like a breeze. The universe emerges as forgiveness itself. There is just forgiveness, there is just love. God created us (authorship) as himself — love. Love as an engine of perfect creation. The paintbrush that colors the perfect creation of who we are. Love Guaranteed.
In this awakening of consciousness we are no longer lonely beings trying to find connection and madly forgiving to keep it. We know we are part of the universal which is Love Itself. In that remembrance of our divine nature, healing happens instantly. Love realized is the potential for wholeness or healing – which may appear in many different forms.
Practically – what does this mean for practice?
When we establish a new direction in our lives, it’s useful to massage our intentions so that they’re clear and specific. The more elevated the intention the more directly we will be moved towards the state of mind that is absolute forgiveness, love itself . In my own practice I had to find a way to understand the goal that I could relate to. I had to give it a language. For me, it was “Love, Guaranteed”.
Love is stable and enduring an inexhaustible source of strength and support.
I experienced progress one day when I flinched without anger when experiencing pain in a relationship. Gradually I practiced not flinching at all by working again and again to do the lessons – with my intention clearly in mind.
As practitioners we are invited to drop our anchor into the grace of love guaranteed. We are invited to set our sails, receive receive the wind and let it guide us into the safe harbor of unconditional love. Anchored there we are encouraged to extend that invitation to anchor to anyone we meet that they too can remain steady in that safe harbor as they navigate their way through the world. The safe harbor of the awareness of love’s presence.
